The SIKA turbine flow sensor type VT15 is used for flow measurement and dosing in water and water mixtures. The sensor is used in many applications, including:
• monitoring of cooling circuits in machine and plant construction
• water treatment
• cleaning processes
• dosing
Due to its compact dimensions and high measuring accuracy, it offers convincing advantages compared to conventional water meters:
• A temperature sensor can be integrated in the housing, thus saving additional installation costs.
• The maximum medium temperature of 120°C offers sufficient safety for all operating conditions.
The liquid flowing into the turbine flow sensor is divided into partial jets by the blading. These hit the rotor uniformly from different directions and cause it to rotate. The speed of the rotor is now converted into an electrical pulse signal (frequency): The rotor is equipped with stainless steel pins (VTH, VTM, VTP) or magnets (VTI). A Hall effect sensor (VTH, VTM, VTP) or an inductive proximity switch (VTI) detects the rotational movement.
A flow proportional frequency signal (square wave signal) is available. Due to the uniform flow to the bearing, the forces largely cancel each other out and wear is reduced to a minimum. The extremely hard bearing materials, sapphire and hard metal, also guarantee an exceptional service life.
